Good Morning Lake Tapps!
We’re glad you’re here! Kind of weird, we know, but trusting that the Lord uses our “house groups” and this simple, virtual presence to remind us that we truly are a family growing together, even when we can’t all be together.
We’re praying that through this page, the preaching of the word, and the Lord’s presence, in our smaller groups we will worship together as the body of Christ.
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you. (Philippians 1:3 ESV)
Why
Why Aren’t We Gathering “at the church” on Sundays?
The Word Health Organization has declared the COVID-19 virus a pandemic and is urging drastic measures to be taken to stem its spread.
The Governor of Washington has banned large gatherings of 250 or more and specified stringent regulations on groups of 10 or more.
We believe it is a way of considerately loving one another by taking appropriate steps to protect those at risk among us.
We believe it is a way of loving our community in doing our part to reduce spread of the virus.
We believe we should support those in authority as they take steps to protect life in our community.
Why still try and gather “as the church” on Sundays by coming together in small groups?
It serves to remind us that the church is not a place or a program, but a people. That Lake Tapps Community Church is the body of Christ not the building at 17017 Forest Canyon Road.
The Bible is clear that the church should “consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25).
While we may not be able to assemble physically as a large group, we can gather as small groups to fellowship, worship, and, through technology, be fed by one of our pastors and share an experience together.

Worship
through Remembering
In times when our world gets destabilized and our routines upset, it’s good to focus on that which is unchanging, to stand fast on firm foundations. We encourage you to take time as a group and come to the foot of the cross, remembering the Person, the Work, and the Coming again of our never-changing Savior. Communion can be a meaningful way to respond to the message you’ve just heard and fellowship together with the One who is always in your midst.

Read Isaiah 41:8-14.
What promises does God make to His people in these verses?
What promise is most meaningful to you at this time?
Think about God’s promise of eternal life.
Read John 11:17-27
How do these verses give you confidence in the midst of a pandemic?
What response did Jesus want Martha to have?
Think about how God may want to use you and our church during this time.
Read Colossians 4:2-6.
In what ways does the Coronavirus give us an opportunity to represent Christ in new ways?
Paul exhorts us to “walk in wisdom towards outsiders”. He tells us that our speech is to be “gracious, seasoned with salt.” The New Living Translation says, “Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so you will have the right response for everyone.” What are some ways people try to share about Christ that are “unattractive”?
Pray this week for opportunities to be “salt and light”.
